Just for kicks I took another picture of the cucumber today. Count the links of the chain hanging next to it. It is a whole link longer. That is an inch! The silly things are still so skinny, though. I guess it is just the variety I got this year. Ryan will be coming today so this cucumber may not be there tomorrow. That boy does love cucumbers, and I do love him.  Posted by Hello

The first real tomato is on the vine. Oh, wait a minute, there are two of them.  Posted by Hello

The brocolli is doing great, too.  Posted by Hello

The celery could stant to be weeded, but other than that is doing well. These are plants I bought because I did not get my seeds started in the house and theseeds I planted in the garder probably wont get big enough to eat before the frost gets them.  Posted by Hello

The strawberrys started blooming yesterday. Posted by Hello

Look at those Cucumbers. Compare them with the picture of just a couple days ago. They are skinny, but plenty long. They are already beyong pickler size.  Posted by Hello

The first planting of peas are so tiny and cute. I wish they were big and climbing all over things, but it is still pretty chilly at night. The soil temperature really effects the peas.  Posted by Hello

The green peppers finially are starting to grow. I had just about given up on them. They stayed tiny for so long.  Posted by Hello

The zucchini is beginning to swell. It will be ready to eat in a few days.  Posted by Hello

Almost all the tomatoes are in bloom now. The Alaska tropic probably get less sun than the others, being back in the corner, but even they are blooming now.  Posted by Hello

Todays progress.

I don't remember what day I planted the first of the green peas. It was a Tuesday, so was probably 3 weeks ago today, the third. Peas will sit there semi dormant until soils warm enough for them to sprout, so I wasn't terribly concerned about the early date. They did not sprout till about the 17th. I planted another group on the 19th and the rest today. After I finished planting I weeded the entire bed and admired the week old sprouts. Actually there are more of that first group coming up every day. I guess I did not get them all evenly deep. Some seeds pushed themselves up to the top when the roots emerged and I pushed those back down about 3/4 inch. They are coming back up now, too.
The onions I planted on the 19th are coming up nicely. They are still emerging, but there are enough to tell exactly where the rows are and week them. I dont see any carrots, yet, but they will probably be showing up soon.

Trying one more time to get the picture. If it doesn't work this time I guess I will just give up.  Posted by Hello

The letuce looks funny cause it grew a long stem before I was planted outside, but it will taste fine. The red and green leaves look so nice together in a salad bowl. Posted by Hello

I should have pulled that bit of chickweed before I snapped the picture.  Posted by Hello

This is only one of the several blooming tomatoes. This is a big boy. The 4th of July are also blooming, but the Alaska Trop haven't started yet. Posted by Hello

The brocolli is doing great, but it will be a while before there is anything to eat.  Posted by Hello

See the baby cucumbers? 5 of them just on the two plants. On second count there are seven.  Posted by Hello

Just for Diane, here is a picture of my dandilions. Would you believe I am growing these intertionally for dandilion tea? No? Well I guess that is a bit far fetched. I might try though because I do grow a lovely crop. Posted by Hello

The zucchini and summer squash are liking the gazeebo a lot. We had to put plastic down to protect the froor, but they don't care. I still have some plants looking for homes, but most of it is taken.  Posted by Hello

The cucumbers are happily climbing their chains. you can see tiny little cucumbers on some of them if you know what to look for.  Posted by Hello

These are some of the tomatoes making themselves right at home in the greenhouse. They are doing just fine and the transplant did not set them back at all.  Posted by Hello

greenhouse

Dave got the heater in the greenhouse thursday of last week. I started moving tomatos and cucumbers out the next afternoon. I have 8 cucumbers and 25 tomatos. I am keeping nine big boy, 8 Alaska tropic and 8 fourth of July. I have two pots of two each green peppers. I am sure disappointing in how slow they are growing. Maybe they need fertalizer. I should fertalize everything tomorrow.
Most all the zucchine and yellow squash is in 5 gallon buckets in the gazeebo until it is warm enough overnight for them outside. I still have a couple that need to find homes. I only have 4 cucumbers left. I moved them into the guestroom with the left over tomatos and got the shelves out of my bedroom.
I planted about half the cabbage red cabbage and brocolli outside with dome covers. I hope that works. I planted a couple letuce, but don't expect that to make it. It is down to 40 and it is only 10pm. It will be pretty cold tonight. I planted a row of carrots, but decided not to plant any radishes until I have a shady area. The peas are soaking overnight and will go into soil tomorrow afternoon.
